British Museum - Legion: life in the Roman army

Advance booking only

Exhibition Dates: 1 February - 23 June.
The 2FOR1 offer is valid from 19 February - 9 June.

The Roman empire spanned more than a million square miles and owed its existence to its military might. By promising citizenship to those without it, the Roman army – the West's first modern, professional fighting force – also became an engine for creating citizens, offering a better life for soldiers who survived their service. Families are also invited to follow Rattus, otherwise known as Claudius Terrattus, on our Horrible Histories trail.

You can find out how you make it into the legion, dress for battle and spin the wheel of misfortune at a series of interactive stations for all ages.
