Everything you need near Leeds Station

At the station: Need coffee served super-fast as you struggle to find your tickets to Leeds? Grab a steaming latte in a paper cup from the Starbucks kiosk and get your march on to the platform. Sandwiches/deli: Craving a handmade sandwich stuffed with freshly sourced, organic loveliness? At Camden Food Co you can wrap your mouth around posh sarnies like the king prawn and avocado wrap. Yum.

A short walk away: Legendary fry ups are the order of the day at Café Centro. Its honest, humble grub has won it fans across the city. Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, fresh tomatoes. It’s less than 10 minutes’ walk on Great George Street.

If you’ve run out of reading material you won’t have to go far to pick up a new bestseller or the latest edition of your favourite magazine. There’s a WH Smith located in the station which sells the latest paperback and hardback chart-toppers as well as a selection of older favourites and a wide range of magazines. If retail therapy is more your thing, the new Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre is nearby. Here you find buskers, pop-up restaurants and tons of fab shops – everything from high street fashion giants to designer labels. 

Trinity Leeds: Shopping is big and bold at this super-trendy retail heaven. You’ll find pop-up restaurants, designer brands and your favourite high street stores. Hollister, Victoria’s Secret and Skechers are just some of the shops – with cheap tickets to Leeds you can shop guilt-free.

Leeds and beer go way back – Tetley has been brewing bitter here since the 1800s, after all. And the streets surrounding Leeds Station are a hotspot for craft beer pubs.

Waterfront Walk: Craving some chill-time? Escape the city hubbub with a wander along the River Aire and Leeds-Liverpool canal. You can get to the quayside by following Neville Street behind the station and walking through the brick tunnels known as Dark Arches.

Find Yorkshire ales alongside ones sought from America at The Brewery Tap on New Station Street. It’s owned by the Leeds Brewery – with beers brewed on-site. Expect to see ales like Leeds Best and Yorkshire Gold.

If you’ve got a bit of spare time in Leeds, many of the city’s amenities are within 10 minutes’ walking distance of the station.

Encounter the work of famed sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth at Leeds Art Gallery. Moore’s large, abstract works are well worth the short stroll.

At the Leeds City Museum you can travel back to the Bronze Age in the city, and encounter artefacts from ancient Egypt and Rome. Don’t miss the famed Leeds Tiger – a stuffed tiger so popular the Yorkshire Post campaigned to save it. 

If you want to stretch your legs and get a breath of fresh air after being cooped up on a train for hours, why not go for a brisk stroll along the canal? You can reach the picturesque Granary Wharf in just a few minutes and watch the boats go by on the waterfront.

Most of the eateries in the area have outdoor seating so you can grab a bite while you watch the world go by.
