Christmas and New Year travel information
If travelling over the festive period, you can download the revised timetables for travel from 24 December – 1 January.
Changes to ticket restrictions from 11 December – 4 January
These may affect your Christmas travel plans, so please take a look:
- From 24 December – 1 January inclusive, we will lift the usual time restrictions on Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak and Off-Peak Day tickets
- However, peak travel restrictions in London may still affect your travel. Even though we’ve waived our time restrictions from 24 December – 1 January, this doesn’t apply to TFL transport. In effect, this means you won’t be able to use an Off-Peak TravelCard before 9.30am on weekdays, on London Underground, DLR, buses, etc
- From 11 December – 4 January, ScotRail Super Off-Peak tickets for travel between Scottish stations will not be valid for travel at any time. This restriction applies on both East Coast and First ScotRail services.
Upgrade to a Festive First ticket
We all like to indulge at Christmas and you can enjoy the comfort of First Class from just £20* with a Festive First ticket upgrade.
Festive First tickets will be available onboard every day from 24 December – 3 January inclusive. Anyone with a valid Standard class ticket/pass can upgrade to enjoy Festive First.
*Prices vary from £20 to £25 one way, depending on your journey. You can only pay for a Festive First upgrade onboard. Our Festive First upgrades are subject to availability.
Christmas catering changes onboard
From 24 December – 3 January inclusive, there’ll be no At Seat Dining or Restaurant onboard. But don’t worry if you’re peckish, buffet and trolley refreshments will be running as usual.
