Online discount offer cuts 25 per cent off a Family and Friends Railcard
SPRING is a great time to plan family days out – and train operator East Coast has a great offer to make the most of its lowest priced fares to exciting destinations.
Until the end of March, it is cutting the price of the Friends and Family Railcard bought on its website by 25 per cent to just £19.50.
The Family and Friends Railcard offers super savings on a wide range of fares when booked online via the East Coast website – shrinking adult fares by over 40 per cent, with 70 per cent off for children.
This includes using the Railcard to make savings on East Coast’s Miniature Prices, which are the lowest fares available for Standard one-way travel. These super-low fares are much cheaper than a generation ago in 1979, the year when the Sony Walkman made its debut – with the cheapest single between London and Edinburgh 39 per cent cheaper than it was 31 years ago.
Until the end of March, the Family and Friends Railcard is available at www.eastcoast.co.uk for only £19.50 – saving 25 per cent off the normal price!
East Coast commercial director Peter Williams said: “The Family and Friends Railcard is valid for a whole year, and holders can use it to save a third off adult and 60 per cent off child fares.
“Even bigger savings can be made using the card to buy East Coast’s Miniature Prices, our cheapest Advance fares available via our website.
“Booking Advance fares online with East Coast saves a further ten per cent off our cheapest fares – that means adult fares are over 40 per cent less and child fares 70 per cent cheaper.
“Up to four adults and four children can travel on one card, so it’s ideal for taking friends and their youngsters along too. And with such a great choice of family attractions along the East Coast route, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this Spring”.
Just some of the great East Coast destinations families can visit this spring are:
• London – filled with perennial family favourites such as the London Eye, the world’s highest observation wheel: the Natural History Museum, featuring the world’s biggest, tallest and rarest animals: over 2000 hands-on exhibits to see, touch and experience at the Science Museum – or why not come face to face with faces from showbusiness, sport and even Royalty at Madame Tussauds.
• Leeds – the Royal Armouries Museum, a short walk from the station, hosts the national collection of arms and armour. Family fun events include live combat displays by knights in shining armour and themed holiday events featuring chances for youngsters to be a cowboy or a pirate for the day!
• York – discover over 300 years of railway history with free entry and fun family activities at the National Railway Museum – or experience life on the streets in AD975 at the ever-popular Jorvik Viking Centre.
• Newcastle – explore the fascinating story of humanity next to Newcastle station at the Centre for Life, including a thrilling trip on the world’s longest motion simulator ride: the Discovery Museum features a Science Maze that will keep children happy for hours: or visit Seven Stories, the Centre for Children’s Books – the national centre for children’s literature.
• Edinburgh – Scotland’s capital offers a dazzling choice of family fun, including Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia and the ever-popular Zoo – or for a different view of the city, visit Camera Obscura and see live moving images of Edinburgh projected via a giant periscope.
