CAPITAL FARE DEAL IS THE BUSINESS FOR YORK

CAPITAL FARE DEAL IS THE BUSINESS FOR YORK

YORK-based train operator East Coast is launching a flexible discount fare deal aimed at York business travellers heading for London.

For a limited period, until 11 April 2010, the Standard Business Saver return ticket will be available at £95 for turn-up-and-go travel from York, departing anytime from the 8.11am service from York onwards on Monday to Friday.

The return journey from London can be made anytime up to a month from the date of outward travel – making the ticket ideal for stay-away business travellers.

The ticket can also be bought from the station anytime up to a few minutes before your outward train departs – perfect for those who need to head for the capital at short notice.

East Coast’s commercial director Peter Williams said: “The new Standard Business Saver offers the business traveller from York flexibility and good value, saving £47 compared with the normal Standard Off-Peak Return fare (usually £142).

“Other than very busy early morning weekday trains – those leaving York between 6am and 8am – the ticket can be used for travel by any East Coast service.

“Our train is a mobile office – with free wireless internet on-board allowing business people to access the internet and send and receive email on the move - plus we have great food and drink available from the café-bar, and on most trains, from the at-seat trolley.

“In comparison going by car to London means driving on congested motorways, with no productive travel time, and paying rising fuel costs and congestion charges. Little wonder that smart Yorkshire business people choose to go by train with East Coast”.

Advance purchase fares for pre-booked travel on specific East Coast trains continue to offer great value. Advance returns, booked online via www.eastcoast.co.uk, from York to London start from £26 Standard Class or £94 First Class.

Notes to Editors:

The Standard Business Saver promotional fare can be purchased from staffed stations, from East Coast’s telesales service on 08457 225225, or via the East Coast website www.eastcoast.co.uk.

The ticket is available for outward travel seven days a week until Sunday, 11 April 2010. Return journeys must be completed within a calendar month of the date of outward travel and no later than Monday, 10 May 2010, whichever is sooner.

A one-way, single version of the ticket is also available at £94.90, saving £16.60 compared with a Standard Anytime single from York to London (usually £111.50). London Underground travel in zones 1 and 2 can also be added to both the single and return versions of the ticket.

Different restrictions apply for return journeys using this ticket which originate from London: details are available from stations or online at www.eastcoast.co.uk. Break of journey is not permitted: child and Railcard discounts are available. Under fives travel free if they do not occupy a seat: normal refund conditions apply.
